Thanks but, No Thanks

An illustration for my 3×3 friend Sarah Jacoby’s upcoming Zine. The theme is “Thanks, but No Thanks.” Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

This is a new copic inking pen I’m using. I purchased it at New York Comic Con. I’m quite in love with it.

Also- I’ve made a tumblr for more frivolous activities.

2nd Place @ New York Comic Con LoTR Contest!

Wow! What an honor! I’m super excited to find out my little fan offering of The Dead Marshes has made it to 2nd place at NY Comic Con’s Lord of the Rings at Radio City Music Hall (link) art contest. I’ve always been in love with the music from LoTR, and so this really means a lot to me. Many thanks to NYCC & LotR @ Radio City!!

It’s worth noting that the other entries were very cool as well, so check them out on flickr here: Link

Yay! Everyday

Yay! EverydayOne of my favorite blogs of all time is little tumblr blog called Yay!Everyday. Artists from around the world (including myself) are invited to post inspirations and share fantastic art we find on our travels across the internet. Yay!Everyday has high quality posts and the importance of linking back to the source of inspiration is the heart of the community.

Hand-bound Books

Tim & I had the fantastic opportunity to take a book binding class at the WNYBAC taught by the lovely Ms. Amy Greenan. I really enjoyed playing with different textures, recycled papers, techniques and scales to push what a handmade book can be. In particular I loved the Japanese stitch and the slip-cover book. I’m very much looking forward to creating new and crazy books and sharing more hand-bound books with you!

You can click through more photos below or check out my Flickr.

Pirates vs Ninjas Buttons!

I’m super excited for these onigiri (that’s Japanese rice balls) pirates vs ninjas 1 inch glow in the dark buttons. You can snag a set on my etsy here.

I worked with Busy Beaver Buttons to get a nice glow. Normally they only print black & white, but in collaboration with them, we came up with printing the colors over a special glow paper. It resulted in not only the white areas glowing brilliantly, but also areas of blue and red take on a very subtle secondary glow as well.

A Single Man

a single man sketch

A sketch really from a movie I was admiring, but have not yet had the chance to view. I see my style flowing more towards this organic sketchy way. I fancied to use it for my twitter theme as well.
